At Central Ave Nissan, we believe in taking a break from it all from time to time. That means planning a getaway trip or even just taking a day to explore. We can provide you with some great ideas for what to do during this summer. We think you’ll enjoy at least one of the following ideas because there is something in or around NYC for everyone.
Jeppe Hein, “Please Touch the Art”– If you consider yourself to be an appreciator of art, go to Brooklyn Bridge Park to view 18 brand-new sculptures by Danish artist Jeppe Hein. You’ll also find a massive playground and waterfront gardens that can take your breath away. Hein welcomes visitors to engage with the art and play with it. Take a walk among seven-foot-tall water-jet walls, find your way through the Mirror Labyrinth, and experience true rest on Modified Social Benches.
Warm Up at MoMa PS1– Whether you go for the art or the party, check out MoMA PS1’s Warm Up. This event has been going on for 18 years and includes a wide crowd from music snobs to outdoors people. Gather at the museum’s courtyard to experience a great lineup. Enjoy bands, DJs and producers, along with great art, beer and food.
Blues BBQ Festival– Mighty Quinn’s, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, and Delaney Barbecue will fire up on-site grills for both Texas- and Carolina-style barbecue favorites like brisket and pulled-pork sandwiches. This event based on the riverside will have live blues and roots performances by Big Sam’s Funky Nation, John Németh and Samantha Fish. There’s nothing better than that combination.
Videology– Can you quote movies like the alphabet? Don’t let your memory go to waste. You and your friends need to gear up for six rounds of cinema trivia, complete with video clips and dramatic reenactments. With great prizes like a free round of drinks for third place, a $75 bar tab for second, and two hours for your first place team and friends in the screening room plus a $150 bar tab, you’ll reap the benefits of being a movie buff.
Cooperstown, NY– If you stay in Cooperstown, make sure you check out more than just baseball. With four breweries in town, Cooperstown was once the country’s hops-growing capital. Make sure you visit Brewery Ommegang for some great tours and $5 tasting of six different beers and a complimentary glass.
Bear Mountain, NY– Go to Bear Mountain for an easy escape from the loud and bustling city. Visit the state park for some hiking, biking, picnic groves, fishing, swimming, and zoo. You’ll have a great view as well to take great pictures and make memories you’ll never forget.
